Historical Attractions at Muli

Ambika Nivas Palace (Raj Mahel), Muli:

Ambika Nivas Palace, Muli was built as an official residence of the Muli Royal Family by the 22nd HH Thakore Saheb of Muli, Harischandrasinhji in the 1930s. The Palace was completed in 1936 and has ever since been the private residence of the Muli Royal family for generations now. Prior to the Ambika Nivas Palace, the Muli Royal Family resided in the Juna Darbargadh located in the centre of Muli Town. Today the Ambika Nivas Palace, Muli is a part private residence and part luxury palace hotel.

The Darbargadh, Muli:

The Darbargadh was the official residence of the Thakore Sahebs of Muli until the Ambika Nivas Palace was built in the 1930s. The Kuldevi – Dhar Devi Amba installation has also been done at the Darbargadh, Muli.

Jhaumbai Ma Temple – War Memorial, Muli:

Jagdevsinhji was the 10th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli. During the tenure of Jagdevsinhji that the famous Partridge War was fought in 1693 vikram samvat in which Munjaji II (2nd son of Jagdevsinhji) died along with 140 brave warriors. Muli State won the war against the Chabad Rajputs in which over 500 Chabads were killed.

Raatba-ni-Vaav Stepwell, Muli:

Ramasinhji I was the son of the Founder of Princely State of Muli – Laghdhirsinhji I and became the 2nd HH Thakore Saheb of Muli after his father. He built the famous Stepwell and named it after his daughter, Raatba.

Hawa Mahal, Wadhwan:

The Hawa Mahal in Wadhwan was being built by HH Thakore Saheb Dajiraj Sinhji of the Princely State of Wadhwan around 1880. Construction was not completed as he passed away in 1885.

Lothal – Indus Valley Civilization Site:

Lothal, 4500 years ago was one of the most important cities of the Indus Valley civilisation. Excavations have revealed the world’s oldest known artificial dock, which was connected to an old course of the Sabarmati River.
