The Founder – Laghdhirsinhji (Laghdhirji) I – 1st HH Thakore Saheb of Muli

Muli is the only erstwhile princely state in Saurashtra belonging to the Parmar Clan who are descendants of the illustrious rulers, Samrat Vikramaditya and Raja Bhoj. The Parmars of Muli belong to the Sodha branch of Parmar Rajputs. In Tharparkar (Sind), Raja Ratansinhji had 4 sons namely Akhaji, Assoji, Laghdhirji I and Munjaji I. Akhaji and Assoji stayed in Tharparkar while Laghdhirji I and Munjaji I left for Saurashtra.
Laghdhirsinhji I founded the Kingdom of Muli in 1215 Vikram Samvat ie. 1158 AD in Saurashtra. He travelled from Tharparkar in Sind region to Muli. He carried with him the 5 idols of Bhagwan Mandavrai ji in a chariot namely:
Laghdhirsinhji I built the Mandavraiji Temple in Muli by installing the 5 idols at the temple he carried with him from Tharparkar. Munjaji I stayed and settled in Devalia-Chachapar villages in Saurashtra.

Ramasinhji (Ramaji) I – 2nd HH Thakore Saheb of Muli

Ramasinhji I was the son of the Founder of Princely State of Muli – Laghdhirsinhji I and became the 2nd HH Thakore Saheb of Muli after his father. He built the famous Stepwell and named it after his daughter, Raat Ba. The Stepwell is called Raat Ba ni Vaav and even today is a major attraction for travellers from all over the world.

Laghdhirsinhji II – 5th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli

Laghdhirsinhji II was the son of Samantsinhji and became the 5th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli after his father. He was a very progressive and strong leader. He further developed the Mandavraiji Temple in Muli and built the temple dome. Laghdhirsinhji II died fighting against Muslim invaders near Punasagar in Marwad region.

Bhojrajsinhji II was the son of Laghdhirsinhji II and became the 6th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli after his father.

Chachoji (Sesaji) – 7th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli

Chachoji (Sesaji) was the son of Bhojrajsinhji II and became the 7th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli after his father. He was considered extremely close to Bhagwan Mandavraiji and was even considered a part of him. It is said that Bhagwan Mandavraiji used to even come in his presence. The famous ‘SINH NU DAAN’ story is associated with him and hence came to be known as SINH DAANESHWARI RAJA!
Chachoji killed Bhava Gohil in the year 1592 near Paliyad village. Chachoji Bapu passed away near village Khatdi.

Ratansinhji II was the son of Chachoji (Seasaji) and became the 8th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli after his father.

Karansinhji – 9th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli

Karansinhji was the son of Ratansinhji II and became the 9th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli after his father. It was during the tenure and direction of Karansinhji that Vasajibapu (Shekhpar village) on behalf of the Muli State fought alongside Jam Sataji in the famous battle of Bhuchar Mori in 1645 vikram samvat and died at the age of 90. Karansinhji built the Karansar Lake near Village Pandavra. Karansinhji also built the Gorbai ni Vaav in Muli in 1650 vikram samvat during his tenure.

Jagdevsinhji – 10th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli

Jagdevsinhji was the son of Karansinhji and became the 10th HH Thakore Saheb of Muli after his father. It was during the tenure of Jagdevsinhji that the famous Partridge War was fought in 1693 vikram samvat in which Munjaji II (2nd son of Jagdevsinhji) died along with 140 brave warriors. Muli State won the war against the Chabad Rajputs. In leiu of the brave warriors who died in the War, the Partridge is a protected and worshipped bird and nobody eats or kills a Partridge in Muli till date.
Jaumji Ba (wife of Munjaji II who died in the Partridge War of 1693 vikram samvat) committed Sati with her husband body in her lap. It is said that fire emerged from the thumb in her feet which engulfed her and her husband’s body which lay in her lap. She attained the status of a Mahasati. There is a temple built in the memory of Jaumji Ba (Jaumbai Ma) and followers and worshippers visit the Mahasati Jaumbai Ma Temple and the war memorial of the brave warriors that died in the Partridge War from all over.
Mahasati Jaumbai Ma Temple is one of the most significant, historical, powerful and spiritual sites belonging to Jaumbai Ma who was the wife of Munjaji II – 2nd son of the 10th HH Thakore Saheb Jagdevsinhji of the Muli Royal Family.

Ramasinhji gave land, protection and permission to Sahjanand Swami to built the Swaminarayan Temple in Muli in 1897 vikram samvat. The Swaminarayan Temple in Muli was built during the tenure of Ramasinhji.
